Question 1

Where does the GFX 100S II sit in Fujifilm’s line-up?

Accepted Answer

Fujifilm has announced the GFX 100S II as the latest addition to its line of medium-format cameras. It replaces the GFX 100S and bridges the gap between the high-end GFX 100 range and the more compact, cheaper alternatives. With the GFX 100S II, users can benefit from a newly developed Upgraded 102MP BSI CMOS II sensor that meets the demand for uncompromising image quality in a portable 802g body.

Question 2

How does the Fujifilm GFX 100 II differ from the GFX 100S II?

Accepted Answer

Whilst the GFX 100S II is closer to Fujifilm’s high-end GFX 100 II model, some features differ. The GFX 100S II has a 102MP BSI CMOS II sensor, whereas the GFX 100 II benefits from a 102MP BIS CMOS II HS sensor. The GFX 100 II also offers EVF-TL1 9.44m-dot OLED colour viewfinder compatibility, while the GFX 100S II has a fixed 5.76m-dot OLED colour viewfinder. The GFX 100 II maintains its high-end status with 8fps continuous shooting, CFexpress Type B and UHS-II card slots, 8K 30P video, and internal Prores recording. The GFX 100S II has a lower price tag as a result.

Question 3

How compact is the GFX 100S II?

Accepted Answer

As part of the Fujifilm GFX 100S series, the GFX 100S II is inherently compact and lightweight by design. The body measures 150.0 (W) x 104.2 (H) x 87.2 (D) mm and weighs only 883g with the battery and SD card inserted. Without the battery and SD card inserted, the GFX 100S II weighs only 802g. Its innovative build ensures photographers enjoy outstanding image quality while maximising portability.

Question 4

How good is the battery life on the GFX 100S II?

Accepted Answer

The GFX 100S II uses the high-performance NP-W235 Li-ion battery. In economy mode, users can capture up to 530 frames on a single charge. This battery life is excellent for casual shooting and travel photography, but purchasing a spare for more demanding shoots over extended periods or video recording would be wise.

Question 5

What connectivity options are there on the GFX 100S II?

Accepted Answer

Fujifilm has equipped the GFX 100S II with USB Type-C (USB3.2 Gen2x1), HDMI Micro connector (Type D), 3.5mm stereo mini connector (Microphone), 3.5mm, stereo mini connector (Headphone), 2.5mm Remote Release Connector, Hot shoe ports and a Synchronised terminal. These features ensure seamless integration with various accessories and peripherals, enhancing versatility and connectivity for photographers and content creators.
