Question 1

What are the storage and backup options of the Panasonic Lumix S1 II Digital Camera?

Accepted Answer

The Lumix S1 II includes dual card slots for CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II. It also supports direct USB-SSD recording, allowing users to capture footage straight to an external drive. This feature is ideal for high-bitrate formats like ProRes and provides instant backup options during extended recording sessions.

Question 2

What is the battery life of the Panasonic Lumix S1 II?

Accepted Answer

The Lumix S1 II uses the Panasonic DMW-BLK22E rechargeable battery, which provides approximately 350 - 390 shots per charge, depending on usage and display mode. For extended sessions, the S1 II supports USB Power Delivery and can be powered or charged via its USB-C port. The optional DMW-BG2 battery grip also allows a second battery to be in use, doubling the runtime for extended shoots.

Question 3

Does the Lumix S1 II support hybrid zoom or crop modes?

Accepted Answer

The Lumix S1 II includes in-camera crop zoom options that let you punch in digitally while preserving high image quality, especially useful when recording in resolutions like 5.9K or 6K and outputting in 4K. For example, when shooting 5.9K 3:2 open gate, you can extract 16:9, 1:1, or vertical formats without quality loss. This feature allows hybrid creators to reframe for social, cinematic, or stills on the same shoot without changing lenses or reshooting.

Question 4

What connectivity options does the Lumix S1 II have?

Accepted Answer

The Lumix S1 II features a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port with 10 Gbps transfer speeds, Power Delivery, and UVC support for livestreaming or webcam use. It includes a full-size HDMI Type A port for external monitoring or output. Additional ports include 3.5mm jacks for headphones and microphones, a 2.5mm remote input, and support for the optional Panasonic DMW-XLR2E Microphone Adapter for 4-channel XLR audio input, making it well-equipped for production setups.

Question 5

Can the Lumix S1 II be used with external recorders or monitors?

These allow you to record in formats like Apple ProRes or ProRes RAW, monitor in HDR, and access advanced exposure tools.

Accepted Answer
