Tamron 20-40mm f2.8 Di III VXD Lens for Nikon Z

Q: How compact is the Tamron 20-40mm f2.8?

The lens weighs 380g and measures 74.4mm in diameter and 88.7mm long, making it particularly compact for a full-frame zoom with a constant f2.8 aperture. That keeps less weight at the front of the camera, so the setup feels easier to hold and reposition during longer periods of handheld shooting. Its small size also takes up less room when packing for travel or carrying a lightweight camera setup.

Q: What size filters does the Tamron 20-40mm f2.8 use?

The Tamron 20-40mm f2.8 accepts 67mm screw-in filters. This follows Tamron’s unified 67mm filter size, so photographers using other compatible Tamron lenses can share filters instead of carrying separate sizes. This is particularly useful for commonly swapped filters such as neutral density and polarising filters.

Q: What is the equivalent focal range on APS-C cameras?

On an APS-C mirrorless camera, the lens provides a full-frame equivalent focal range of 30-60mm. The narrower sensor area crops the image compared with full-frame, so the 20mm setting no longer gives the same ultra-wide field of view. Instead, the range moves from a moderately wide perspective towards a short telephoto view. The f2.8 maximum aperture remains available throughout the zoom range.

Q: Is the Tamron 20-40mm f2.8 compatible with Tamron Lens Utility?

Yes. The Tamron 20-40mm f2.8 is compatible with the TAMRON Lens Utility application, which provides access to supported lens settings and customisation functions.
